Death brought them together…
…Now Death may tear them apart.

After a couple blissful months exploring their new relationship—while balancing their hectic soul-guiding jobs—Deacon and Mia are faced with their biggest threat yet. Fellow Death Dealers are being murdered and the one thing they know for sure is that no human is capable of such a thing. Their cryptic Death Angel boss has some answers, and discovering them could put Mia in more danger than ever before. The battle between good and evil wages on and time is of the essence to find the killer before another murder can happen. But learning their identity sends shock waves throughout the underworld, and the threat of an apocalypse looms. When Mia finally uncovers the reason her Death Angel boss saved her from dying, her life is turned upside down… and now the whole world depends on her to save it.

Last fall I read the first book in this series by Ashley Robertson called Death Dealer and fell in love with the paranormal world she created. The review is posted on Literary Sweet for anyone wanting to start at the beginning, and I always recommend starting a book one in a series that follows the same characters. This way you don’t lose any of the juicy bits, and these are novella length, so they’re good for a quick read, or if you’re on the go.

Also book one is free on Amazon and Smashwords.

Blood Promise brings a new adventure for Mia and Deacon. Book one shows their relationship grow, but this book brings the pressure and strain that most of us can relate to when life goes wrong. Mia undergoes physical changes whereas Deacon’s love is put to an internal test as he watches her train. I usually don’t mention specifics in my reviews but this is one of my favorite scenes. There is a level of tension rarely addressed in PNR when the significant other is put through the wringer. I found it a grounding and realistic touch because when we or our loved ones face dangerous situations, we don’t sit by idly. We eat at ourselves until the danger passes.

As always Ashley Robertson weaves a tale filled with the unexpected as the death dealers traipse into the unknown against a foe no one expected. Action, mystery, and romance grace the pages as Mia and Deacon rise up, fall down, and … well you’ll have to read it to find out what happens next.

Paranormal romance lovers can rejoice and if you like gritty angels even better. You won’t be disappointed, I know I wasn’t, and I can be a tough cookie to hook, line, and sink.
